However, when most people think of anxiety, they think of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Some of the symptoms of this disorder include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Feeling nervous, tense or restless<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiencing a sense of danger or doom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having an increased heart rate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Breathing rapidly or hyperventilating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sweating excessively<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trembling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trouble concentrating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Problems sleeping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoiding triggers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is Tinnitus?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tinnitus describes a phantom sound in the ears that no one else can hear and that isn\u2019t present in the environment. Usually, tinnitus is worse in quiet environments like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evpl.org\/connect\/locations\/evpl-mccollough\/\">Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library<\/a>. Tinnitus sounds different for everybody, and it can range from mild and irritating to severe and debilitating. Tinnitus may present as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Ringing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roaring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hissing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whistling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buzzing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Humming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chirping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sizzling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Link Between Anxiety &amp; Tinnitus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6407646\/\">study<\/a>, \u201cA 45% lifetime prevalence of anxiety disorders is reported in tinnitus populations.\u201d This means approximately 45% of individuals with chronic tinnitus present with anxiety symptoms as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anxiety can cause physical changes in the body, such as increased blood pressure, which can trigger tinnitus. Conversely, experiencing tinnitus can make you feel out of control, which can lead to anxiety.
